Technology
We are pleased to be able to offer you the very latest technology in custom shoe making, the Otabo digital custom shoe fabrication system. Eight years in the making, and now at last we can offer this alternative to traditional shoe making. The Otabo digital optical scanner captures 200,000 data points to create a digital replica of the foot, accurate to within 0.5mm, then on cad/cam this model is adjusted to create a last mold over which the shoes are made. Patterns for the selected style are transferred to the lasts and fitted. Once the technician is satisfied the patterns fit the lasts, they are entered into the database to be sent to the cutting room, where the uppers are cut by laser jet and then sewn together by computerized sewing machines. Highly skilled craftsmen assemble the shoes and apply the soles, finishing the edges and polishing the shoes ready for fitting. You can visit their website, Otabo.com, for more information.
