Company History

A little about us. When Edgar and Walter Johnson opened their first shoe repair shop in the old arcade in downtown Toronto, it was a gamble like so many other new ventures. With hard work, perseverance, and attention to detail, the store became a success. After a few years, they moved to a larger premises on the main street and began selling high quality shoes for the well heeled, while maintaining the shoe repair in the back. It soon became apparent that there was a need for custom made shoes to fit those odd shaped feet, and so the brothers taught themselves how to make shoes.

The business evolved into orthopedic shoes over the years, and Johnson Bros. became renowned for offering high quality, affordable orthopedic shoes. The present owner, Alan More, joined the firm in 1969 after serving a 10 year apprenticeship in England, and took the helm of the company in the early seventies, bringing his own passion for excellence and quality while expanding the company into Orthotics and the growing lab market.

Today, we look forward to the what the future has to offer and pledge to honor the high reputation for integrity, quality, and expertise we have become known for, while vowing to treat our customers with the respect and fairness they deserve.
